Location: Pydar House, Truro

While a number of Local Authorities are reducing their in-house teams, Cornwall Council is creating new opportunities for individuals to join its Property team.

The Council’s strategy is to deliver significant savings for the authority through improving the quality and compliance of its property portfolio and optimising opportunities for a One Public Estate with for example the health service and our care services.

The Property Team are seeking to recruit a Property Strategy Lead (ref 000006S2) and a Property Planning & Strategy Officer (ref 000006SA) to support the Council’s aspirations in rationalising the estate across Cornwall enabling devolution and future growth of the estate in an evolving climate. This includes supporting other public bodies ranging from the Health Authority, the Police, Local Community Groups and our Housing Team.

These posts are permanent positions. They are full time positions, but we will consider part time applicants. The posts will be based at our main office in Truro with flexible working hours and the opportunity to work remotely at the manager’s discretion.
 

  • You will have particular responsibility for developing programmes, funding bids and business cases for, and communicating the benefits of, property rationalisation, devolution and sharing.
  • You will need a relevant degree level qualification, professional membership of relevant body such as RICS, RTPI, RIBA or CIOB, and evidence of continuous professional development.
  • You will have experience in the delivery of relevant functions within a local authority or other organisation of comparable scope and complexity.
  • You will have a proven record of managing a property programme and projects.
  • You will have experience of successful budget management within tight financial limits in a complex organisation.
  • You will need to demonstrate an up to date knowledge and understanding of the law, government policy and best practice in relation to the functions within the portfolio.
