Wealden District Council manages an extensive stock of over 3,000 properties spread out among one of the most attractive rural districts in the South East. It sets a high value on the quality of its public housing and is about the start the third phase of its New Build programme. It has already built nearly 100 new council homes in the District since 2013.

We are seeking a dynamic Property Services Team Leader to ensure Wealden’s public housing continues to set the highest standards for all its affordable homes. The role involves leading a small team to manage the repair, maintenance and improvement of the Council’s housing stock. You will be responsible for delivering major planned and cyclical work programmes, aids and adaptations to the Council's housing stock and taking the lead on health and safety with regard to compliance of the buildings. The right candidate will play an important role in a number of major improvement projects in the pipeline including major retirement living refurbishments and a new suite of contracts to procure.

To help us during these exciting times, it is essential that you possess a HND in Building or equivalent, with significant experience in all aspects of pre and post contract property surveying and maintenance duties within a social housing environment. You will also have a proven track record in leading and managing a team. Membership of a professional body, or the willingness to study towards membership, is also preferable.

You will need to possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrable ability to encourage good working relationships with colleagues and the public. You will also have well developed project management skills.
