The client is an Infrastructure Construction Consultancy in Central London, with a heavy presence in the Utilities sector. This opportunity would require someone with the skills and aptitude to take up both the technical requirements for the role as well as a client facing, business development angle.
This would ideally suit someone from a Contractor background that has a professional approach, and is looking to further their network and their career prospects within the Consultancy market. The company is part of a much larger brand so there is the financial security of working for a large company, whilst still being able to work independently within this Construction Consultancy.
Personality will play a key part in the selection process for this position; we are looking for people that have the ability to get out into the market and network amongst the clients, whilst maintaining a strong commercial aptitude for growing the business.
The long term plan for this role is to nurture you into a Director of the business and give you the resources to grow your own team(s). As mentioned, they have a strong presence in Utilities so if you have more contacts in the Energy, Highways, Civils or Rail sectors then this would work well.
A very general idea of a suitable background for this role would read something like:
Construction Degree, Professional Qualification (MRICS, MCIES)
2008 - date - Top 5 Construction Consultancy working in the Infrastructure sector, working at Senior or Associate level in a Cost Management or Quantity Surveying role
2004 - 2008 - Civil Engineering Contractor, working on range of Infrastructure projects as a Junior QS then up to Project or Senior QS
