Description Kendall Kingscott Limited are a long established medium sized private practice with offices in Bristol, Exeter, Teddington and Bournemouth with a significant portfolio of public sector, University, RP and commercial framework clients. Due to the continued success of the Bournemouth Office, Kendall Kingscott Ltd is looking to appoint a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor to support a number of existing key framework appointments and assist in the development of new work opportunities around the South Coast and Southern England.
Key professional responsibilities
• Advising, co-ordinating, and full delivery of a wide variety of refurbishment, alteration, extension and new-build projects ranging from £100k to £5m within agreed programme and cost parameters from inception to completion
• Compliance with the company’s ISO 9001 and ISO14001 Quality and Environmental Management Systems
• Experience in multiple sectors
• Ability to oversee and perform technical checks on work carried out by others
• Client facing with private consultancy background
Key technical responsibilities
• Preparation of feasibility studies providing advice on a variety of issues associated with building projects including costs, project risks, programming and presentation of scheme proposals
• Acting in capacity of Lead Consultant, chairing meetings and recording minutes and co-ordinating other consultants to achieve a common goal
• Submission of planning applications and obtaining other statutory consents
• Inspection and reporting upon the condition of all forms of property
• Design and detailing of building works and existing structures for compliance with regulations, bye-laws and clients’ requirements
• Preparation of specifications, including NBS format
• Preparation of contract documents, with experience of JCT and NEC forms
• Preparation of Design Risk Assessments under CDM2007
• Preparation of PTEs on schemes up to £500
• Tender management and evaluation
• Contract administration, valuation and certification
• Preparation of cost reports and final accounts
• Inspection of buildings for schedules of condition
• Preparation of general reports and recommendations to clients
• Negotiations in respect of party walls
• Maintenance reports, schedules and management.
• Advising owners and occupiers on the use of buildings including services, maintenance and statutory responsibilities
• Employers Agent experience
• CDM co-ordinator duties desirable, but not essential
• Performance of duties not specifically listed above but which may be reasonably expected of a competent Building Surveyor
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications
Essential
• Degree level qualification in Building Surveying
• MRICS – full chartered status
Desirable
• Currently working at a senior level
Experience
Essential
• Minimum 5 years PQE
• Background in traditionally procured project work from £100k to £5m with public sector bias including social housing
• Managing and supervising graduate level staff
Desirable
• Professional practice – party walls and dilapidations
• CDM-C experience
Knowledge
Essential
• IT literate
• Practical knowledge of NBS specifications/specification preparation
Desirable
• CAD ability
• Practical knowledge of JCT and NEC Contract Forms
