Principal Surveyor
Who we are:
Carterwood is a Bristol based chartered surveying practice. We are a young, ambitious, company that has seen its turnover more than double in the last 2 years. The aim of the company has always been to offer a bespoke property consultancy service to our clients, in direct counterpoint to some of our larger and better known competitors. As a distinct point of difference Carterwood works exclusively in the long term healthcare sector.
We operate in a different way to traditional surveyors, consequently a traditional surveyor is not who we are looking to recruit. We are more akin to business consultants offering well founded opinion from a surveying grounding and perspective: challenging clients; getting under their skin; understanding their business objectives in detail; all leads to a personal and particular approach to our work. It is this which has earned us the respect of some of the major names in the care sector within a short space of time.
What we are looking for:
Whilst you will be a chartered surveyor, you will not be someone who is set in their ways and gets excited by corporate management structures.
What you need to be is:
•An independent thinker who can contribute to a team of intelligent, sharp and lateral thinking people.
•Someone who wants to become an important part of a small fast-growing company.
•Someone who not only has exceptional attention to detail, but can also express that detail clearly and concisely, both in written documents and to clients, face-to-face.
•Someone who has an opinion, isn’t precious about it, and retains a sense of humour even under pressure.
•Someone who can adapt to constantly changing business demands within the office – if routine is your thing, don’t apply.
•Someone who enjoys being a surveyor but somehow feels they don’t quite fit the mould and is looking for something a little different.
The role:
•Preparing valuations of care homes and development sites, often with a high level of complexity
•Preparing market surveys of existing care homes and establishing the suitability of care home development sites
•Strategic advice in relation to the operational performance of trading care homes for both the private and voluntary sectors
•National role with a focus towards the South East, South West, Midlands and Wales
•Supervise and train junior members of the team.
