Working under your own initiative, but under the general supervision of a Building Control Area Manager, you will work within a busy Building Control team providing professional service to the Council in respect of its responsibilities for building control legislation.


You will be expected to deal with a heavy and varied caseload of both domestic and commercial projects, as well as related matters such as investigations of dangerous structures and marketing initiatives.
You will be expected to take part in cross team and cross service work, including participating in Systems Thinking Reviews of our work and participating in the introduction of a new database.


You will require:
• Relevant course experience (already qualified or working towards a qualification).
• A degree or equivalent in Building Surveying and possession of corporate membership of a relevant professional body such as Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Association of Building Engineers (ABE), Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), or Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE).
• Building Control experience with knowledge of the relevant legislation and regulatory framework.
• Good written & verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
As you will have to travel as part of your role you must hold a valid driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle for business use.
