VP, Real Estate Risk
Gatehouse Bank is a London based investment bank combining Real Estate investment expertise with excellence in Shariah principles. They are looking to recruit a Real Estate Risk specialist to provide risk analysis of commercial real estate transactions, implementation of credit and market risk policies and procedures, and to embed the culture of risk management throughout the bank.
MAIN DUTIES / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Comprehensive risk analysis of proposed real estate transactions, including full review of financial models documentation and finance structuring; identify fundamental and operational risks and propose;
•Ensure requests conform to the bank’s risk appetite. Ability to make recommendations for requests that fall outside of risk appetite;
•Experienced with balance sheet, income and cash flow statement analysis;
•Working closely with transaction originators, asset managers, valuation agents, external counsel and with risk colleagues; during credit application and documentation process that throughout the lifetime of the transaction to exit;
•Working closely with the Asset Manager, Real Estate to obtain property valuations through external providers;
•Written and verbal presentation of risk analysis and recommendations;
•Monitoring and management of the bank’s real estate portfolio to ensure ongoing compliance with finance covenants and approval conditions;
•Produce and present effective management information;
•Provide training and guidance on risk matters;
•Involvement with new business initiatives and projects with the ability to take on various responsibilities whilst delivering to deadlines.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum five years’ risk analysis experience within a banking environment.
Required education:
•Degree educated;
•Strong academic background in a numerate discipline.
Beneficial education:
•Specific risk qualification (GARP / RICS);
•Islamic Finance Qualification.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Required knowledge & skills:
•Good working knowledge of commercial real estate market in the UK;
•Familiarity with current financing policies and regulatory standards and requirements;
•Ability to apply knowledge to new products and structures;
•Experienced in analysing financial statements;
•Ability to build, stress and interpret financial and cash flow models.
Beneficial knowledge & skills:
•Knowledge of Islamic banking products and structures;
•Knowledge of the FSA capital adequacy regime and ICAAP;
•Knowledge of the FSA liquidity regime and ILAS:
•Use of a range of bank IT systems and the requirements of automated reporting.
Personal Skills:
•Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills;
•Superb interpersonal skills and the ability to build good working relationships with colleagues at all levels;
•Self starter who displays an entrepreneurial approach to achieving results;
•Exceptional time management and organisational skills.
