The APC final assessment can be a worrying prospect. What questions will you be asked? How can you make sure you show the key RICS competencies? And what happens if you freeze and can’t remember the answer? This video takes you through an APC mock interview so you can feel confident when you walk in that room.

First impressions count

In your APC interview, it’s essential to make a positive impression and establish a good rapport with the assessors. The video shows how to create this relationship from when you walk in, to when you finish the interview. Listen out for the commentary for some top tips.

Make sure you show the key competencies

Demonstrating that you have achieved the key competencies is one of the most important parts of the RICS interview. Watch the video to find out what language to look out for when the assessors ask questions – it’ll help you know when you should share your competency knowledge.

Using the right language

You’ll hear advice throughout this RICS APC mock interview video on how you should answer questions. For example, use ‘I’ instead of ‘we’ when talking about your case study project.

Don’t be ashamed to go back to a question

If you’re not sure of the answer to a question or it’s disappeared from your mind, ask the assessors if you can come back to it. Remember to write it down so you don’t forget.
