How To: Use the RICS Recruit Mobile App

Today, RICS Recruit launched its first official app for iOS. The app is currently available in the Apple App Store, and you can start using it immediately on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
Here are a few tips to get you started.
Find relevant roles quickly
Just like the RICS Recruit website, the app features a powerful search engine designed to help you find roles that are right for you. You can search by keyword and location from the main search page, then modify the search further by clicking “Refine”.
Once you’ve got your search parameters set, you can save the search so you can return to it in the future. You’ll also receive notifications whenever jobs that fit your criteria are added.
Upload your CV from the Cloud and apply
Once you’ve found a job you want to apply to, you can submit your application directly from your phone in a few quick taps. First, click the blue “Apply for Job” button at the bottom of the job description. The app lets you upload your CV from any cloud storage account, including iCloud, Google Drive and Dropbox. It also provides you with a template cover letter that you can edit, then you can send your application off with a single tap.
After you apply, you can find a list of all your submitted applications in the “Your jobs” tab.
Shortlist jobs to move between devices easily
If you’re using the app to search for jobs on the go but prefer to apply on your computer, you’ll find switching between devices has never been easier. On the search results page, swipe left on any job to bring up a quick shortlist option. You can also shortlist jobs by clicking the star on the job description page.
To find the job later, simply log into your RICS Recruit account on any device and go to your shortlist. This is found on the “Your jobs” tab of your app, while on the website you can find it by clicking the star next to your name at the top of the screen. No matter what device you add a job from, it will appear on your shortlist on all devices.
Customise notification content and times
Once you save a search, you’ll start getting notifications whenever new roles are added that match your criteria. You can refine your searches to be as general or specific as you like.
In addition, the settings tab allows you to customise the way you get the notifications. You can choose between receiving instant alerts for each role, or a digest once there are five new roles available. You can then decide when you want to get the alerts. For instance, if you only want the alerts in the evening, you can star the notifications at 17:30 and end them at 22:00. Tap “Change” to adjust the time, then tap “Change” again to save.
