Despite the unprecedented times, Macdonald & Company continue to report on their findings from their annual Rewards and Attitudes survey 2020-2021.

The results were showing some positivity within the sector with 4 in 5 still confident in the industry.

Breakdown of the figures

Since the pandemic, the report shows that attitudes have changed towards salary, most notably that for the first time in 20 years, salary is no longer at the top spot, instead work-life balance is the most important for professionals.

One in three respondents are considering obtaining a new qualification, two-thirds of those are looking at vocational studies.

Half of the respondents agree that their organisation has a great workplace culture.

RICS qualified professionals receive an average base salary that is 39% higher than non-qualified professionals.

However, it was not all positive;

The diversity pay gap has increased in the UK from 17% in 2019 to 27% and comparisons between the median salary from a white ethnic background and of those from a BAME background standing at 20%.
