Amey are currently looking for people to support their Birmingham Highways Maintenance and Management Service (BHMMS), Europe’s largest local government highways partnership. The £2.7bn service, delivered by Amey in partnership with Birmingham City Council, is a 25-year contract that has already seen significant investment of more than £350m since 2010.

This investment was part of a long-term asset management approach which will deliver benefits for the remainder of the contract to 2035. Amey support customers make smart choices to get the best from their assets, which in Birmingham includes:

  • 2,500km of road
  • 4,200km of footways
  • Over 95,000 street lights
  • Over 1,000 highways structures, including bridges and tunnels
  • 76,000 street trees
  • Approximately 1,100 traffic light signals

As well as maintaining highways assets, Amey delivers a round-the-clock emergency response service, winter maintenance, and are responsible for road space coordination, managing over 130,000 utilities and third party highways works in the city each year.
