This is a full-time role but part-time will be considered which will provide CAD/GIS support on a range of projects to both internal and external clients within the Utility sector (water, gas and electricity).

Qualifications:

A degree qualification in GIS or a related field. MSc would be desirable but not essential. The ideal candidate would have two or more year’s commercial experience in a similar role and be able to provide demonstrable experience of GIS, technical consultancy and the delivery of tasks to time, accuracy, quality whilst meeting cost objectives.

Essential Criteria:

  • A high level of competence using the ESRI ArcGIS product suite, including its extensions;

  • A sound understanding of spatial data structures and fundamental concepts of GIS;

  • Spatial database design and management, preferably with ESRI geodatabases;

  • Ability to liaise with internal and external clients to promote and deliver high quality GIS input into their projects;

  • Able to work on their own and with the wider project team based in multiple locations;

  • Experience using Model Builder and creating custom scripts in Python;

  • Experience with Ordnance Survey and Land Registry products;

  • Proficient in the delivery of allocated project tasks, to quality, time and budget requirements;

  • Have good problem solving skills;

  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English;

  • Attention to detail;

  • Be adaptable and flexible;

  • A desire to innovate, looking for new ways of doing things differently;

  • Excellent time management;

  • Ability to deal with pressure

  • Ability to work independently as well as in an interdisciplinary team;

  • Clean full driving licence.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of working with environment, planning and engineering related datasets;

  • Experience with working and controlling a large number of evolving datasets;

  • Experience in SQL server;

  • Experience administering and customising Web GIS applications using ArcGIS for Server, ArcGIS Online;

  • Database management & design.

Responsibilities:

  • Data capture, management, analysis and validation;
  • Data conversion and integration;
  • Map production for Land Referencing products;
  • Development and implementation of methodologies for creation and use of spatial data, including digitizing, editing, coding, and annotating line, point and polygon data;
  • Creation of Land Registry compliant Easement, Consent and Wayleave drawings;
  • Creation of landowner plans for attachment to referencing forms;
  • Design and build spatial and non-spatial databases; 
  • Meeting with internal clients to determine GIS requirements.

The position will require an ability to manage time and GIS projects effectively and work in a pressurised environment. You should be innovative and creative with strong interpersonal communication skills, and be comfortable working independently as well as in an interdisciplinary team.
