Head of Housing Delivery and Development
Job title: Head of Housing Delivery and Development
Salary: £56,198 - £68,684 per year
Closing Date: Tuesday 21 February 2017
Interview Date: Monday 6 March 2017
We are Ambitious Cornwall. Are you?
We are looking for talented, ambitious and dedicated individuals who can help us deliver our Strategy to create a more prosperous, resilient and resourceful Cornwall. As part of our extended leadership team you will be expected to make a valued contribution to creating a more sustainable Cornwall.
Our Local Plan was adopted at the end of last year, and to meet our locally identified need we now need to build 3000 homes a year for the next five years, a twenty percent increase from now. Low wages and high prices have created a real housing problem for our residents, made worse by poor quality and insecure private rents. We have too many older people and those with specialist needs in institutional care, rather than living independent lives.
Cornwall Council is rising to the challenge through:
• Planning a transformation of supported housing
• Capital investment of £200m in direct delivery
• Intervening in the market
• Investing directly in new housing for sale and to rent
• Establishing our own Development Company
• Transforming social and affordable housing stock
• Releasing land to create a revolution in small sites
• Transforming opportunities for SME's and self-build
• Maximising national funding and programmes that support our ambitions.
You will be responsible for delivering Cornwall’s house building programme of 3000 homes a year over the next five years. Each new home should meet our aspirations of good quality houses in the right place, at the right price, with the right tenure at the right time. Your successful track record of maximising funding streams and delivering innovative housing schemes that provide a return on investment will therefore be key to this role. As will your experience of working with and building strong relationships with the private sector and partners.
We are looking for an outstanding leader who is creative, innovative, and commercially minded. Are you a social entrepreneur who can take us on the next step of our journey?
We welcome applications from all sectors. What we want most is ambition and knowledge that can be turned into real delivery.
This post is politically restricted under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
Cornwall Council is committed to safeguarding and is an equal opportunities employer.
