Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Councils are committed to improving the quality of life for everyone living in, working in and visiting east Suffolk. Already a progressive and successful partnership, we are in the process of combining our two authorities to create the largest District Council in the country, delivering vital services to those who need them most.

Our councils are an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people's lives.

The role:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and entrepreneurial Programme Manager to join us. This role will be pivotal in driving forward a strategic scale growth, development and regeneration programme within East Suffolk. This role will be focused on the efficient use of land that East Suffolk owns or is interested in acquiring and assisting other land owners in bringing forward sites the council has development interest in.

You will:

  • co-ordinate the work of various services and stakeholders that impact upon major growth, development and infrastructure programmes.
  • lead on delivering objectives on time and within budget,
  • be responsible for co-ordinating resources working on the project, identifying, managing and escalating risk, providing recommendations and reporting on progress.

It will also be essential to ensure the programme receives suitable promotion and publicity and to engage with stakeholders who may be potentially affected by emerging proposals.

What you will need:

You will:

  • have a proven track record in delivering major projects in a planning, development or regeneration role
  • considerable post qualification experience in development management and development economics
  • be MRICS or MRTPI.
  • have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills,
  • maintain political sensitivity
  • be able to independently plan and implement work which crosses service and organisational boundaries to ever changing deadlines.
  • have mobility within the district is essential as there will be a requirement to travel.

The benefits:

In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development. We want you to stay with us for the long term, so we will give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation.

There is also a superb benefits package including:

  • flexible working options and purpose built brand new office accommodation,
  • a generous leave entitlement,
  • discount scheme, pension scheme,
  • free car parking.
