About the role
The purpose of this role is to develop and maintain within BBSRC Estates, building maintenance and asset management expertise to ensure effective, sustainable maintenance systems are in place at Institutes to safeguard UKRI owned assets and those for which the Executive Chair of BBSRC is accountable for.
You will provide for the BBSRC's Estate Business Case and Investment Gateway Panel Programmes the role of secretariat acting as the administration manager supporting the programme Chairs for each activity to deliver the: calls for business cases; the management of the responses and the reviewing of the cases received and to then support the oversight of the capital investments approved.
You will also provide advice and guidance to site representatives to ensure sites establish and operate a 10 year Asset Management Plan and a detailed 5 year Maintenance Plan derived from condition appraisal reports prepared by others, including legislative non-compliance. Approve appropriateness and adequacy of maintenance plans annually, assess priorities and support the agreement of funding levels and allocated BBSRC funding contributions.
From regular visits and contacts with sites, you will provide advice and guidance as is required on specific construction/maintenance related matters.
It is essential that you are a professional Associate of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors or have a similar property related professional membership.
Experience in maintenance works, planned preventative maintenance regimes, quality and durability maintenance, improvements and small works as well as experience of direct management of projects, acting in the role of project manager and or contract administrator is also required for this role.
You will have the ability to respond positively to change, demonstrating agility and flexibility particularly when problem solving and also have the ability to work closely with colleagues to build strong relationships and support for initiatives, aligning activity and resources to deliver strategic objectives.
