Estate Building Surveyor and Head of Works
The Cowdray Estate, located in South Downs National Park near Midhurst, West Sussex, is looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to lead their in-house Works Department.
As Head of Department, the Building Surveyor will take responsibility for the Works Department, a team of approximately 32. They will also be responsible for managing repairs, maintenance and capital projects as well as realising development opportunities across the Estate’s significant residential, commercial and agricultural property portfolio. The individual will be commercially astute, managing the Department’s P&L and setting annual budgets.
The successful candidate must be a member of RICS and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the building/construction industry at management level as well as proven knowledge of contract management across a variety of property types. They must be a motivating and inspiring manager, able to lead, develop and manage staff as well as delegate as appropriate. They must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of statutory and industry compliance.
