Senior Building Surveyor - Preston

Due to our ever increasing workload, a fantastic opportunity has arisen within the practice for a senior building surveyor.

Cowan & Co. wish to appoint a senior building surveyor to take an active role in leading the management of the building surveying division and be involved in the overall development of the practice.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Managing instructions from inception to completion
• Demonstrating and providing high level core building surveying skills.
• Coordinating client and contractor liaison
• Leading a team of technical/professional staff.

The scope of work that the successful candidate would be involved with includes:-

• Pre-acquisition surveys.
• Detailed evaluations of building defects.
• Preparation of designs and specifications.
• Contracts administration.
• Project monitoring.
• Dilapidation issues.
• Party wall matters.

Personal skills & experience

The successful candidate should demonstrate the following:

• Have been a chartered building surveyor for a minimum of 5 years and has held a senior position within a similar organisation.
• Strong commercial awareness.
• Exceptional core building surveying skills
• A good working knowledge of CDM regulations.
• Excellent report writing skills
• An enthusiastic approach in the delivery of commissions.
• A desire to lead a team by example
• A commitment to extend their professional knowledge through a chosen specialisation in their field.
• Personal experience of CAD packages is essential.
• A current and clean driving license.
