Sava Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation

Whether you already work in the property industry and want to develop your skills, or are looking for a completely new career with flexibility, variety and a good salary, the Sava Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation could be perfect for you.

If you are looking for a pathway into residential surveying, this Diploma is a unique qualification giving those without a relevant degree the opportunity to join the profession.

The Diploma is a level 6 qualification, overseen by the Awarding Body for the Built Environment (ABBE). It’s approved for Direct Entry into the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) meaning you can gain AssocRICS membership as soon as you qualify, and be earning a living as a surveyor.

Overview

  • The Diploma is a unique vocational way to become a residential surveyor, creating skilled surveyors with deep knowledge of building construction, pathology and valuation.
  • It's vocational meaning you're taught real life skills - so when you finish you'll be ready to start your career and start earning fees
  • You gain direct entry into the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) at Associate member level
  • Study is part time, and can be completed in 24 months so you can complete it whilst continuing to work in your current job
  • We have 5 courses intakes remaining in 2018 - Milton Keynes, Birmingham, Wales, York and Stirling

"I didn’t find the workload too daunting and there was always the opportunity to stop and ask questions if you didn’t understand something"

Chris Norris, Diploma Graduate

What is a Residential Surveyor?

A residential surveyor deals with all aspects of residential property – principal activities are related to the management, purchase, sale, or leasing of land and property, as well as valuing and surveying property.

  • You’ll be able to undertake RICS HomeBuyer Reports for clients, as well as the Sava Home Condition Survey, and in Scotland the Single Survey.
  • You can undertake property valuations, not only for banks, but also for probate, divorce and investment purposes.
  • You can expand your opportunities into more specialist surveys and other building types.

What about the career rewards?

Salary

The average AssocRICS salary is £49,293 (source: RICS 2018 UK rewards and attitude survey).

High Demand

There's a high demand for surveying services across the UK and there's limited supply of new surveyors.

Career

A career in residential surveying offers great freedom and flexibility such as working for yourself or with an established company

"I was attracted to the course because it is run by industry leaders and it also gave me the flexibility to keep working in my current role while I was studying. I liked how quickly you could qualify if you were prepared to put the work in"

James Quinn, Diploma Graduate, Now Owner of a Surveying Company

How long does it take?

The training takes 12 months, and once this is complete you move onto assessment.

We encourage learners to take no longer than 12 months in assessment, and whilst some learners complete in as little as 6 months, 12 months is more realistic.

So overall, the diploma takes 24 months to complete.

Diploma pricing

The investment required is £13,950, including VAT (£11,625 net of VAT).

With many universities charging in excess of £9,000 per year for a full-time undergraduate degree, the Sava surveying diploma offers a competitive alternative for those who wish to study part-time.

Monthly finance options are also available through Deko. For more information on how you can spread your payments over a number of years please talk to one of our Course Advisors on 01908 442158.

Trainer expertise

The training is delivered by leading surveying practitioners, including Phil Parnham, Larry Russen, Chris Rispin and Alan Appleby – many of whom deliver training for RICS and have written much of the industry guidance and text books that are used on the Diploma.

You can read more about the training team and their personal bios by downloading the prospectus.
