Building Surveyor - Public Sector - 33-40k + Excellent Benefits

Chartered Building Surveyor required to assist the Property Services Manager to ensure the effective management and monitoring of the local authority's property.

The post holder will have to demonstrate professional abilities to deal with property matters including project management and reparation of reports for Councillors and management of budgets and procurement.

The Building Surveyor is required to provide professional advice on property and construction, completing detailed reports/building surveys. They are to provide professional expertise on all building matters and identify defects and advise on repair and maintenance options. They are to ensure that all contract works undertaken are done so in full compliance of CDM 2015 regulations.

This is a commercial role for the local authority no housing or housing association work is part of this. You will be working with and as part of the commercial building team.

The post holder is to particularly seek to achieve:

• Appointment and management of contractors / consultants as required for day to day works and large multi-million pound projects.
• Exercise financial controls at all times on the expenditure resulting from the activities of projects being carried out. Manage works in capital projects and revenue budgets relating to repairs and maintenance programs, both planned and reactive.
• Information - manage property records and update IT systems. Use of CAD for design purposes.
• Close working with Estates Surveyor's, Property Services Manager and other members of the Business Team as required.
• Assist with general estate management matters as required.
• Manage relevant property inspections, condition and dilapidation surveys, fire risk assessments, CDM and H & S matters for works being carried out and across properties generally.
