Starting salary £28,884 with possible progression up to £45,351 once fully qualified
Location: North East & Yorkshire
At Northern Powergrid, we operate and maintain an electrical distribution network that delivers electricity to over 3.6 million premises, across 25,000 square kilometres. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to join our Field Operations Consents Team, working in Yorkshire and the North East.
Working as part of a large team, you’ll be responsible for negotiating property acquisitions, wayleaves and easements from third party landowners as well as securing environmental & planning consents from local authorities and relevant organisations. You’ll also need to successfully negotiate compensation claims for agricultural and property losses.
The work will be varied including, property acquisitions, substation rent reviews, lease renewals, wayleaves and easement, agricultural compensation claims, access arrangements and general landowner liaison. You’ll work closely with our grantors, customers, agents, local authorities and statutory bodies, and share advice and technical knowledge with colleagues.
You will be required to demonstrate a thorough understanding of certain key areas including; property valuations, landlord and tenant provisions, agriculture, as well as environmental designations, planning, surveying and project management and should have a good basic understanding of property and land law matters.
The role requires an individual who is customer focussed, highly motivated, organised and IT literate, and has the ability to communicate effectively with our Stakeholders, Engineers and Contractors. You’ll work well under pressure and have the ability to manage your own workload proactively, whilst maintaining an attention to detail.
Candidates should ideally hold a qualification in Property, Law, Agriculture, Land Management or a related subject and will be required to achieve a qualification in Electrical Engineering to HNC Level, for successful progression. A two year training programme is provided and candidates will be encouraged to work toward full RICS or CAAV membership.
