Turner Associates are currently undergoing a period of consistent and sustained growth and are looking to recruit a further Chartered Building Surveyor to further grow this area of the business.

Job Profile

As a Chartered Building Surveyor, you will play an important role within the Practice, carrying out surveys including pre purchase surveys, condition surveys and expert witness reports together with carrying out Contract Administration roles and Party Wall Surveying. There may also be the opportunity to expand the role to include for some design work.

The ideal candidate should excel in a client facing role and have a detailed knowledge of the construction process. The successful candidate will work on a varied range of projects from conception through to completion, both commercial and residential from £10k - £1.5million contract value.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Preparation of  Valuations, both residential and commercial
  • Preparation of Pre Purchase Surveys
  • Preparation of Building Surveys
  • Preparation of Expert Witness Reports in accordance with the Civil Procedure Rules
  • Carrying out Dilapidations Surveys and related negotiations
  • Party Wall Matters including preparation of Notices and Awards
  • Contract Administration Services including preparation of Schedule of Works and oversight of works on site
  • Assist in the issuance of drawings when required
  • Review and coordinate drawing packages
  • Liaise with contractors, specialists and consultants when required
  • Manage project filing as per the office procedures and requirements
  • Attend site visits and progress/project meetings when requested
  • Be confident in working on a number of projects at any one time

Competencies for the Role

  • MRICS / FRICS
  • 2 years + post qualification local surveying experience
  • Technical problem solver with the ability to work out architectural solutions through innovative thinking
  • Proficient with the use of AutoCAD would be an advantage but not essential
  • Extensive technical knowledge and substantial site experience
  • Good understanding of the construction process and current Statutory Regulations
  • Strong time keeping skills and have confidence in working in demanding environments
  • Strong aesthetic sensibilities and design skills
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English essential
  • Ability to take instructions and deliver effectively to brief
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work well in a team
