Minor Works Building Surveyor

Your new company
On behalf of our client, a higher education institution in London, Hays Property & Surveying are currently seeking a Minor Works Building Surveyor to take on a 6 month contract on their Central London Estate. My client has a team of building surveyors responsible for estates, capital works and major projects.

Your new role
As the Minor Works Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for capital works up to the value of £250,000, managing a portfolio of varied and in depth projects across the estate. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work both individually or as part of a team to undertake inspections, provide design specifications and technical advice and support Project Managers with the delivery of construction contracts on a wide range of products. As the Building Surveyor, you will be based in London, but required to travel when required to attend sites. You will be responsible for providing building surveyor related advice and technical input including design and tender drawings to support refurbishment schemes; undertake technical building inspections producing feasibility and concept design reports; inspect specific building defects.

What you'll need to succeed
As the successful Building Surveyor, you will either have current MRICS status with appropriate post-qualification experience (5+ years) OR the equivalent related experience. You will be able to undertake specialist building surveys which will include feasibility studies, condition surveys, measured surveys and defect diagnosis. You will have a proven track record of the provision of design and specifications at all stages of a construction project and finally you will have strong knowledge of standard forms of contract, particularly NEC contracts.
