Job Details

Seeking a Project Manager to oversee the delivery of a 4,000 unit mixed-use, residentially-led development in Hampshire, our client is a veritable institution in the UK property sector and - as a constituent of the FTSE 250 - is one of the UK's largest developers and professional landlords.

This exciting client-side PM role offers the successful applicant the opportunity to work on an iconic scheme, comprising nearly 4,000 mixed-tenure residential units, alongside significant commercial and retail assets, all of the infrastructure associated with a development of this scale and even two new-build schools. An additional challenge for the appointee will be to incorporate a number of heritage buildings, sympathetically restoring these to play an important role in the new habitat.

This complex, strategically phased, scheme is a JV alongside the MOD and has already witnessed the delivery of over 200 new homes - now occupied. As expected, the role will incorporate a complex stakeholder interface, reconciling the interests of funders, local authorities and internal interests.

The successful applicant, who will oversee a multi-disciplinary team of consultants, will possess a minimum of 3 years' volume delivery experience, and is likely to come from a dual QS/PM background, allowing them to reconcile commercial considerations with the time constraints associated with delivery. This would represent a phenomenal opportunity for a QS seeking to transition to client-side PM role.

Our client has indicated that they are most interested in meeting exceptional candidates, rather than limiting the prospective pool by adhering too rigidly to a 'profile.' As such, they are open to meeting candidates from either a pure client-side background, or from a consultancy setting with a client-facing bias (Employers Agent/client-appointed PM).

In terms of sector exposure, the ideal would be a candidate with a strong residential bias (ideally major projects) and extensive experience of overseeing a multi-disciplinary team of consultants (notably cost consultants) and contractors.

Due for completion in 2030, this role would be well-suited to a candidate with demonstrable longevity in previous roles; our client is seeking someone who can hit the ground running and see this notable project through to completion. In return, our client offers a competitive salary with reference to the wider market, a fantastic platform for development (accommodating aspiring APC candidates) and a package which is second to none.

The successful applicant is likely to possess many of the following attributes:

- an MRICS/MCIOB chartership (or seeking to attain this)

- a degree-level education in a Technical/Construction discipline (Quantity Surveying/Architecture/Engineering/Construction Project Management)

- a minimum of 3 years' industry experience

- a demonstrable track-record of successful delivery of high-volume residential schemes

- a degree of independence/autonomy: perhaps indicated by having worked as the lead PM on a high-value project

- extensive exposure of having coordinated both external consultants and contractors

Given the scale of the undertaking and the profile of our client, only the strongest candidates need apply.

Salary, dependent on experience, £50,000 - £65,000.
