Planning Engineer (Construction Planner) required by Translink on a permanent basis

Your new company
We are recruiting on behalf of Translink for a Planning Engineer (Construction Planner) on a permanent basis. Translink's capital investment portfolio comprises over 200 live projects with an annual spend in excess of £100m across all business units.

Working within the Projects & Planning department you will support the ongoing development and management of the portfolio plan, ensuring individual project and programme plans are fit for purpose, controlling change, analysing programme and project progress, interdependencies, risks/issues, and reporting on performance.

Your new role
Reporting to the Programme Development Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

Support the Programme Development Manager in strategic planning including scenario evaluation, priority assessment, cost/benefits profiling and contingency options;
Develop portfolio plan structure on Portfolio Information Management Model to reflect agreed business units, programmes and funding streams requirements;
Create new project schedules compatible with project management process and ensure that project activities, durations, stage milestones, costs and resources are adequately defined, logical and realistic;
Develop resource requirement projections to support programme management resource planning;
Provide support, guidance and influence Project Managers in developing and/or reviewing complex schedules to analyse critical path, float, dependencies, cost profile, resources etc.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this position, you must satisfy the following essential criteria:

Minimum of 3 years' experience in delivery of construction or engineering programmes/projects;
Minimum of a degree in Construction or Engineering (or equivalent);
Experience in developing engineering/construction project schedules on planning software, including critical path and resource analysis;
Experience in analysing project progress and preparing planning performance reports;
Experience in using MS Excel and Word for reporting;
Experience of using MS Project;
Able to work in conjunction with a variety of stakeholders;
Experience in cost management/control for projects or programmes.
