Senior Claims Consultant

THE ROLE

I am now seeking a construction Claims Consultant with good all round experience to join my client in Toronto, Canada on a salaried basis.

Responsibilities will include:-

Analysis of documents and the preparation of construction claims.

Preparation of reports including claims and expert reports that could be used in mediation, arbitration or litigation.

Management of client mandates including deliverables, schedule and budget.

Establishing and maintaining business relationships with clients.

Develop new clients and business opportunities with clients including government agencies, private owners, contractors, designers and law firms.

Add value to the company by assisting management with preparing promotional materials, publishing articles and providing quality peer reviews.

Involvement along with the Board with industry associations.

Developing junior staff through mentoring etc.

THE CLIENT

My client is a successful and long established firm of claims and delay consultants with a number of offices across Canada.

They work on claims and delay across a number of sectors including most types of buildings, transportation, highways, oil and gas, process and more.

THE CANDIDATE

They are now seeking a SENIOR CLAIMS CONSULTANT who is likely to be either Canadian or British, ideally already working in Canada although someone in the UK will be considered.

You are likely to be P.Eng / M.Eng or MRICS qualified with an appropriate degree too.

You may also have an MSc in Construction Law or MCIArb or similar.

You must have good analytical skills and an eye for detail.

You will need to have excellent knowledge across various contract types, and be able to work as part of a team or on your own initiative.

You will need to have strong analytical skills and good report writing skills.

You will need a minimum of 10 years or more in the construction industry.

You will ideally also be familiar with scheduling, project controls, risk management, contracts and possibly delay along with familiarity with Primavera and MS Project although not essential for a good claims consultant.

You will have had good all round exposure to construction claims.

The ideal candidate will also be able to meet a client and put together the fee bid for the work etc. and take through to delivery.

Salary is very negotiable in the region of Euro 50,000 to 90,000 plus pension, good bonus etc.
