We are looking for an enthusiastic surveyor to join our Building Control team to cover a gap which has arisen through an internal secondment. This post would offer a great opportunity for a candidate to develop in-depth knowledge, skills and experience whilst within our busy team. You will deal with a wide range of Building Control issues from grand designs to small extensions.

You will provide professional support to deliver a customer-focused Building Control service that supports the Council’s service delivery. This will include undertaking site inspections, checking plans to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations and preparation of reports.

With a degree in the Built Environment or equivalent work related experience, you will be working towards membership of a professional body or be a member. Up-to-date and working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and standards e.g. Building Regulations are essential for this post.

As an excellent communicator, you must have visual awareness, a flexible approach to work as well as the ability to work to statutory deadlines. This post is politically restricted under the Local Government & Housing Act 1989 and subject to a Basic Disclosure Check. You may be asked to participate in the out of hours standby scheme for which a separate allowance is paid.
