The Capital Construction Service has recently been established to bring under one remit all of the Council’s major construction activities including residential, commercial, health and social care, agricultural and educational buildings. Staff in the service work on an exceptional variety of construction projects within south/central Bedfordshire. Projects can include extending or modifying existing properties as well as constructing new ones, and will range in value up to £40M with no two jobs the same. 

We are looking for an experienced, talented and personable Client-Side Senior Project Manager to join our team. You will engage with Clients and Stakeholders interpreting the client’s requirements to define the brief, setting up the project from its inception and carrying it through to completion. Knowledge of design and construction is required in order to manage the work streams and procedures that form part of the role. Site experience is great, but it’s the experience of working with clients from the very beginning that you will bring to the role and will add real value to our projects. You will manage resources and multi-disciplinary teams which will in turn deliver high value, complex construction projects, within time, budget and quality requirements. As part of your role you will manage the performance of poor performing contractors and using your strong mediation and conflict resolution skills manage any contract disputes that may arise. You will be solutions focused with excellent problem-solving skills, identifying any issues, before they arise.

Bringing with you experience of successfully project managing projects with a value of over £10m your financial and commercial expertise will allow you to ensure financial reporting, budgets, monitoring and forecasting are completed in a timely manner.

A highly organised individual you will possess excellent communication skills which will allow you to build important relationships with the project teams and also contractors. Your confidence and personal skills will allow you to fit comfortably into the role and deliver an excellent service to our colleagues and clients.
