Under the general direction of the Regional Manager, deliver projects related to the maintenance, repair, improvements, upgrade and modification of buildings and building systems for offices and residences at Canadian embassies throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Plans and conducts inspections and monitors building maintenance activities; develop and prepare statements of work and contract documentation and supervises project work. Provide technical support services and advice to missions for the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance and use of buildings. Input to headquarters stakeholders to support property program and asset planning and delivery.
Essential Qualifications
Candidates will initially be screened on the essential qualifications below and must demonstrate in their cover letter how they meet these criteria. Only those candidates who meet all the Essential Requirements will proceed to the next stage of the process.
Education: University degree or diploma in building engineering technology, building sciences, building studies, architecture or facility management; OR a minimum of *post-secondary education in addition to 5 years’ experience directly relevant to the duties of the position. *post-secondary education is defined as A-levels, BTEC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ **recent work experience in at least three (3) of the following:
- Evaluating building system maintenance and making recommendations for improving building system reliability, performance and longevity;
- Developing or reviewing preventative and corrective maintenance management plans;
- Directing operations and maintenance of facilities and associated systems (e.g. electrical, HVAC, building automation, fire detection and suppression);
- Inspecting facilities for compliance, performance, safety and asset integrity;
- Preparing technical statements of work, cost estimates and requests for proposals for projects related to the maintenance, repair, improvement, upgrade and modification of buildings and building systems;
- Analysing and interpreting building construction drawings, specifications and other related technical documents
Minimum of 5 years’ **recent experience in construction administration and implementation such as quality control, progress payments, change orders, site supervision, commissioning, and claims management.
**Recent is defined as within the last eight (8) years.
