Job Description:

Thurlow Estate is a progressively managed and diversified land and property holding extending to approx. 18,000 acres, located 18 miles south of Cambridge, 10 miles south of Newmarket, and 1 mile north of Haverhill.

The Estate comprises approximately 220 houses and cottages, a mix of commercial properties and businesses, a large in hand farm, amenity woodlands, let farmland and sporting interests.

We are looking for a keen person with good knowledge of the latest rural estate management practices to deal with all aspects of day to day management including rent reviews, residential/commercial/farm tenancies, sales, and ad-hoc projects.  You will also liaise regularly with tenants and other professionals. The attractive employment package will be tailored to your qualified status, and will be commensurate with your experience. What we mean by this, is that you may be an unqualified, or recently qualified, RICS rural surveyor or CAAV member, or indeed someone who has been qualified for many many years but now seeks a role as detailed below.

The role:

The successful candidate will report to the Agent. 

The role involves assisting the Agent in the following:

  • Managing on a day to day basis the let residential, agricultural and commercial property, undertaking property inspections and viewings, complete mapping, serving notices and rent reviews.
  • Deal with lessee queries on a day to day basis for properties within the portfolio.
  • Advertise, undertake viewings for vacant properties and prepare property leases.
  • Liaise and assist Accounts Department in respect of credit control.
  • Liaise with external professionals including insurers, estate agents and solicitors as required.
  • Liaising with the Estate Building Manager regarding the repair and maintenance and building project works.
  • Ensuring Estate and tenant compliance with statutory and contractual obligations.
  • Maintaining up to date computer and paper records.
  • Working on special projects/Events.

Key Skills and Attributes:

Member of RICS or CAAV.

Excellent telephone manner with excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Good organisational skills with ability to multi-task.

Numerate and computer literate.

Ability to work under pressure.

Good team player.

Must have a full driving licence.
