We’re working hard to improve disadvantaged areas and enhance people’s lives across the Borough – Reading Borough Council's Housing Property Services manages a significant portfolio of residential property, from Victorian Terrace Houses, through to High Rise Flats and Modern Care facilities. Works range from minor day-to-day repairs, to multi-million pound refurbishments and redevelopment as well as some exciting new build opportunities.

You will need to be a good communicator with a proven background in building maintenance, construction and project management, with proven experience of effectively managing staff. You will hold a professional building surveying qualification preferably to MCIOB or MRICS. You will be required to work both independently and as part of a team, liaising with clients to provide a high quality and professional service.

Works will include management of a team of 12 staff, budgetary control of up to £6 million as well as specific project management of various contracts. The team consist of eight Building Surveyors, a Disabled Adaptations Technical Officer, an Electrical Engineer and a Technical Support Officer and a Clerk of Works.

You will be contracted to work a 37 hour week and you will be given 24 days paid leave rising to 29 days after five years, there is a contributory local government pension scheme and mileage is paid for business use.
