Salary: £45,629 - £48,682 per annum (this position carries an additional £3,000 market rate supplement)

Hours: 37 per week

Location: Shefford

Contract: Permanent

Central Bedfordshire Council is a financially stable, modern, forward thinking with an efficient operating model.  Recently described in an independent review as ‘an impressive Council’ we are only 35 minutes from London, but without the inner-city challenges and pressures. Central Bedfordshire is a diverse area and is home to around 264,500 people, living in picturesque villages, hamlets and historic market towns and with great transport links – making it easy to get to and to get around.

As part of the role you will implement the Council’s Asset Management Strategy where it relates to the Commercial Estate. This will include the preparation, maintenance and delivery of the Commercial Estate Plan.

You will manage all landlord and tenant matters to maintain and build rental income (circa £2m pa) by reducing voids, managing bad debt and exploiting opportunities. You’ll manage your own budgets and ensure effective financial management, including updating the monthly forecast on the finance system.

As a member of RICS you will understand the importance of delivering the annual asset valuation of the Council’s property assets in accordance with RICS / CIPFA regulations, for this you will use in-house and external resources

A natural and effective communicator and influencer, you will possess excellent presentation skills and be able to deliver these to a range of stakeholders, including colleagues, Councillor’s, MP’s and members of the public.  Your natural leadership skills will allow you to lead the team by example, ensuring staff to do their best at work every day, while working in a way that reflects Central Bedfordshire Council’s values. You will of course manage your time effectively, be calm under pressure and have the ability to manage any confrontation effectively.

Central Bedfordshire Council has its own vision and values that are integral to everything we do. Our area vision is to make Central Bedfordshire 'A great place to live and work’.
