The London Borough of Waltham Forest is committed to Creating Futures, our new Corporate Strategy. We are fiercely ambitious and strive continuously to make sure each and every one of our residents enjoy a quality life in London.

Effective Property and Asset Management is a key to the success of us achieving our corporate strategy. We have restructured our service, so it is positioned for the future and works collaboratively with all stakeholders, to driving change and making service improvements.

Now we are recruiting forward-thinking and innovative professionals who’ll place Property and Asset Management at the heart of the council’s broader organisational change agenda.

As a Commercial Surveyor, you will support the delivery of strategic projects as part of the overall LBWF Housing and Growth Agenda.

You will be responsible for the appraisal and delivery of direct residential and mixed-use developments, joint ventures and refurbishment opportunities. Besides this you will negotiate terms for the structure and restructure of development agreements and review possible opportunities for investment purchases.

You will also instruct and manage both internal and external professional teams and consultants, monitor cash flows and assess the potential of projects to ascertain viability and profitability.

About you

As a qualified surveyor and Member or Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, you will be experienced in property development processes, valuations and development appraisals.  You will have delivered a range of projects – both residential and mixed use.

Aside from the above, you will be an effective collaborator with the ability to influence and gain the commitment of a range of stakeholders.

About us

Over the past few years, Waltham Forest has changed drastically. Not only are we London’s first ever borough of culture but we also boast good schools, great parks, mass regeneration and budding community entrepreneurship. All of this is making Waltham Forest a place that people want to call home.

Waltham Forest as a council has also changed. Despite the challenges of austerity, we are a fast-paced borough that is undertaking many large-scale projects, yet we continue to see our highest ever levels of resident satisfaction. As funding reductions continue, Waltham Forest is creating a council for the future.

Waltham Forest Council is an employer of choice. We offer a huge range of benefits to make working with us more than worthwhile. We are committed to flexible working, including compressed hours and remote working. In addition to this, we offer some serious financial benefits including a defined benefit pension scheme whereby the Council pays more than double the employee’s contribution towards a pension payable on retirement.
