Middlesbrough Council’s making great progress delivering its ambitious economic plans with exciting physical regeneration projects and unprecedented new housing growth.  Planning and Building Control Services are an essential component in achieving this and we need a Principal Building Control Surveyor who is highly motivated and who can demonstrate a "can-do" attitude with a creative approach to problem-solving.

You will have responsibility for your own caseload, which will include a range of complex projects, as well as having a supervisory role of more junior members of staff. You will also have responsibility for undertaking the enforcement of Building Regulations as necessary and support the development of the service and staff. 

You will hold a relevant degree level qualification and be a full member of an appropriate professional body (RICS / CABE etc). You should have an in depth knowledge and understanding of construction, building control, the Building Act / Regulations and associated legislation as well as having experience of, particularly large and complex projects. It is expected that the successful candidate would also have some supervisory experience.
