Job Purpose Summary:

To undertake Reinstatement Cost Assessments (RCAs) on plant, equipment and general contents items and manage wider insurance valuation projects and ongoing instructions for clients from inception to completion; ensuring quality standards are never compromised. The opportunity offers an end to end role and responsibility for the overall work completed, although Director supervision will be provided.

Reporting directly to the business owners and Operations Director, this will be an integral role within the company, with the opportunity for career expansion and progression.

Duties of the job

  • Preparation of replacement cost valuations for insurance purposes on fixed assets. The fixed assets will be plant, equipment & machinery.
  • The duties will involve attending client facilities and valuing the fixed assets. The facilities could be in any sector such as food & drink; oil, gas & power; engineering; utilities and mining.
  • Examining plans, drawings, specifications, parts lists, etc. and specifies the materials and components required. Ability to extract information from IP&D drawings, asset register and process flow diagrams.
  • Prepare asset schedules onsite - list the principal items of plant and equipment including make, model and capacity.
  • Analysing cost information, applying indices to take into consideration depreciation of asset costs over time, reviewing the impact of exchange rates and import costs on asset values; applying local and international labour costs concerning the installation of the subject assets and the site services.
  • Preparation of a comprehensive insurance valuation report including a high level of reporting detail that meets the requirements of the London Insurance Market
  • Travel to different parts of UK and globally dependent on the nature of the project and the geography of the site.

Skills, experience and qualifications required

  • Qualifications
    • Must hold at least 3 year post RICS status or ASA equivalent.
    • Must hold engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Experience & skills
    • Minimum of 5 years of insurance valuation experience.
    • Experienced in valuing mining and other related industries.
    • Ability (experience in) to analyse cost information and understand plant processes.
    • International exposure to plant and equipment facilities and track record of valuing these assets.
    • Preparation of valuation reports and reporting to clients.
