West Dean College of the Arts and Conservation is an internationally recognised College, part of the Edward James Foundation, a charitable educational trust located on the 6,400 acre West Dean Estate in beautiful West Sussex countryside near Chichester.  As well as being a respected educational institution specialising in practice-based arts and conservation, the historic house and collections, the stunning grounds and gardens open to the public, and the year-round events and exhibitions make West Dean truly unique.

As part of an ambitious 10-year strategic plan, the Foundation is investing in a transformational capital building programme to enhance the College campus and to ensure that future needs are met. Developments will involve a combination of aspirational new buildings and reconfiguration of existing buildings, all to include teaching workshops, student accommodation, a library and archive, a visitor entrance and exhibition centre, and enlarged restaurant facilities.

We are seeking an experienced Capital Projects Manager to manage the diverse capital programme to completion, delivering projects on budget, on programme and to a high standard.  This person will provide oversight and leadership of the projects providing strategic advice and project management to all elements of the building projects in line with the Foundation’s values, goals and aspirations.

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrable experience in a similar role within the property or construction industry.  Experience and working knowledge of the commissioning, design, procurement, construction and completion of building construction projects as well as experience in the design, implementation and management of capital programme processes and procedures are essential.

This role requires outstanding communication and project management skills, with the ability to collaborate, build and influence relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

You will be a strong leader with experience of working through periods of change and achieving strategic and operational objectives.
