Property Portfolio Manager

3-year fixed term contract

Salary £59,356 - £65,095

You may think that being a property portfolio manager at a local authority is all about public halls and car parks and while there is that of course, there is much more to the role at Elmbridge Borough Council.

We are a progressive Council, determined to deliver high-quality services to our customers. We do this against a backdrop of ever-increasing demand and ever decreasing funding. To ensure we can continue to deliver our services, we have a strategy of acquiring commercial property in Elmbridge and it’s this strategy combined with the existing property portfolio, that will drive your role at Elmbridge.

Working closely with the head of the service, you will be managing all the areas of property management you would imagine, including:

  • Valuations
  • Acquisitions
  • Disposals
  • Leases and licences
  • Easements
  • Rents and service charges
  • Dilapidations

However, there is more to this role.

  • You will need to be pragmatic, agile and have the capability to influence and think strategically.
  • You will be a strong project manager, with the financial acumen to ensure that you get the best value from our property assets.
  • As a RICS qualified professional, you will be familiar with the relevant legislations and regulations
  • You will be a proven leader, able to both coach and enable your team to help you deliver.

We ask a lot we know but we give a lot too!

You will, of course, benefit from the support of a strong, experienced team but we can offer you more.

We know that when our employees thrive, our organisation and customers thrive too. That is why we will provide you with a bespoke learning and development package through our talent development programme, as well as giving you access to our employee wellbeing programme, which includes a range of opportunities from mindfulness to mental health first aid to lunchtime table tennis.

You will also benefit from a flexible approach to working and the option to ‘buy’ additional annual leave, all of which helps with that elusive work /life balance.

If this sounds like the right opportunity at the right time, all the details to apply are below. If you have any questions, please contact Alex Williams, Head of Asset Management & Property Services
