Qualified Building Surveyor

Have you ever considered moving into the insurance industry? I have a perfect opportunity for a professional Building Surveyor to join the Subsidence Team at one of the largest insurance providers in the UK. You don't have to have previous insurance experience as training will be provided. 

You will be home based and working closely with other team members and service providers, you will take responsibility for managing a portfolio of commercial or domestic subsidence claims from notification to conclusion dealing with diagnosis, mitigation and repairs.

The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria: 

- You will have a building qualification RICS, CIOB etc
- You must have detailed knowledge of structural defects affecting buildings
- A working knowledge of repair techniques to damaged buildings and their drainage, particularly in respect of subsidence damage
- An ability to diagnose the cause of damage to domestic and commercial buildings
- The ability to be decisive in resolving matters, an appreciation of the importance of delivering outstanding customer service, and excellent communication and empathy skills.
- A working knowledge of CDM and Party wall legislation.
- High level of IT skills 

You must be self-motivated to work from home but with the ability to work closely with a remote team of support staff and colleagues, as well as manage and plan your own workload whilst delivering professional advice to both claimants and insurers.

There will be a requirement to visit claimants so it is essential for all applicants to have a full UK Driving License.

If you do have insurance claim handling experience that would be beneficial but as mentioned, it is not essential as training will be given. 

Salary will depend on experience and ability and location but will be in the region of £50k to £60k.
