Due to continued success within the discipline we are looking to further increase our capacity and capability with the appointment of an Associate Cost Consultant with a strong consultancy background. Based in our Swindon office this is an opportunity to become a key member of our multi-disciplinary team within Portfolio, Programme & Project Management (P3M) business.

Our Cost Management team provides services to a variety of clients within the housing development, mixed commercial development and defence sector. A career at WYG will provide you with the opportunity to work on challenging, large scale projects.

Your Role

You will work closely with others within the office and across the wider WYG regional offices forging strong working relationships internally and externally with our clients, becoming part of their integrated project teams.  Involved in a large portfolio of exciting development opportunities ranging from private to public sector and from small to large scale projects. Service delivery includes feasibility and assessment stage through construction to completion. You will have the opportunity to work autonomously and as part of a wider thriving team enhancing your existing skill set and ensuring your role and responsibilities remain diverse.

You will be expected to provide our clients with a range of Cost Consultancy services.  We consider these skills paramount to the successful execution of any construction venture. Working alongside our colleagues across the business, we draw upon the highest calibre of skills to provide our clients with a professional, quality cost management service.

Our flexible approach delivers the optimum cost management strategy, one which satisfies the business and project objectives of our clients and delivers the best possible results for all stakeholders. 

You will be integral to our cost management strategy which embodies a wide variety of specialist services including planning and forecasting, option appraisal, business case preparation, procurement advice, whole life costing, life cycle costing, cost planning, construction management, change control, project monitoring and contractual expertise and advice.  With the financial interest of our client a fundamental priority we analyse and consider the financial implications at every project stage, attaching great importance to cost control, budgeting and financial appraisal.

About You

You will be a member of a recognised professional body (e.g. RICS) and you will bring an advanced knowledge of the industry and cost consultancy service. You will assist with efficient, collaborative, well governed service using modern management techniques to deliver our projects successfully.

You will be working on major projects and we shall help you to develop a track record of high standards in technical delivery. You will also be part of our internal project teams and shall obtain exposure to project related external teams.

You shall have considerable communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to forge strong working relationships at all levels. You shall: -

  • Have full membership of a recognised professional body or committed to achieving full membership (e.g. MRICS)
  • Be able to lead the provision of cost consultancy best practice and innovation
  • Be capable of delivering high quality services focused on client satisfaction
  • Have residential and/or services/highways experience
  • Possess an understanding of both pre and post contract construction projects
  • Be familiar with JCT and NEC forms of contract
