Self Employed Building Surveyor

Job description:

Courteenhall Estate is a traditional and progressive, rural estate located on the edge of Northampton.  An opportunity has arisen for a qualified Building Surveyor to work a fixed term contract, working closely with the Owner, Managing Agent, and Estate Team at Courteenhall Estate.  The successful candidate will be contracted to work from the Estate Office for one day per week for a period of six months; there may be an opportunity for additional tasks after this period.

The role:

You will be expected to lead the successful implementation and delivery of building projects for the Estate.  Some of these projects include the construction of a broiler unit and the renovation of a grain store to a commercial use/warehouse.

This role will typically include:

• Project management of new build and fit out projects including the fulfilment of the CDM requirements;
• Development and project monitoring;
• Contract administration;
• Preparation of specifications and schedules of work, including obtaining quotations;
• Drafting of Standard Contract forms;
• Collating project documentation;
• Defect analysis.

The Person

The successful candidate must be either self employed or be operating as a company, and may have experience of working on an Estate and must possess their MCIOB or MRICS accreditation.  Key attributes we are looking for in a candidate include:

• Able to multi task, prioritise activities and time.
