Finance Director

My client, a growing independent property company with an interest in a substantial development portfolio, has an immediate need for a capable and strategic Finance Director to join the small, central London-based team to assist in satisfying the requirements of all Group, Associated and Joint Venture companies. This role will also include the Company Secretary function for all companies.

Primary responsibilities

Working closely with the Directors, to:

Assume overall control of the Group's accounting function; ensuring that all financial practices are in line with statutory regulations/legislation.Produce accurate monthly and annual management accounts and financial reports.Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met.Ensure that company's financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities with emphasis on future growth and property investment / development.Assist in optimising the company's financial performance and strategic position.Ensure that corporate budgeting processes are carried out and reviewed.Contribute to the development of strategy across all areas of the various businesses, assisting assumptions and decision-making as appropriate.Provide financial analysis and guidance on activities, plans, targets and business drivers.Work with the directors in growing the business, formulating strategies and plans, analysing the financial climate and market trends to assist in creating strategic plans.Supervise financial assistants and other employees in the facilitation of day-to-day operationsSeek out methods and practices to minimise financial riskUpdate and implement financial policies and procedures Maintain strong working relationships with external parties including investors, lenders, auditors, clients, subcontractors and suppliers.

Candidate Profile and range of experience

Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).Experience in previous Finance Director role.Minimum eight years' experience in property finance roles.
• Company Secretarial experience (Property Investment and Development).
Proven track records of working with groups of companies and JVs.Strong track record of participation creation of the annual strategy.Commercially astute, articulate, technically strong, dynamic, insightful and influential Able to operate at both strategic and operational levels.Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Strong IT skillsAbility to handle pressure and assist in critical decision-making.High integrity and openness. Commitment to good governance.Experience of strategic planning /demonstrable strategic thinking skills.Ability to multitask and prioritise.Thorough understanding of business principles and practices in relation to the property sector.
