The Client

My client, a prestigious estate with a portfolio of properties across Commercial, Residential, Heritage and Hotels are looking for a Maintenance Surveyor / Building Surveyor to join their team based in Bedfordshire. This is a full-time permanent role paying up to £45,000 with very competitive benefits.

The Role

Reporting into the Estates & Property Manager you will lead the team to ensure that the full range of maintenance services are provided in an effective and efficient manner.

Role responsibilities include:

  • Undertake surveys of properties, measure and collect data relevant to the surveying disciplines
  • Undertake inspections of properties diagnosing defects and carrying out minor works on site as appropriate
  • Timely preparation of specifications for planned and cyclical works and the supervision of all cyclical, planned and reactive maintenance to estates premises.
  • To ensure through regular site visits and monitoring that, voids, reactive and planned maintenance are delivered efficiently in terms of time, cost and quality.
  • Assistance in annual budget preparation
  • Ensuring income and expenditure is managed with the Maintenance Department
  • Liaising with contractors, tenants and external stakeholders, ensuring relationships are well maintained.
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties consistent with the above as may be directed from time to time.
  • To line manage staff within the Maintenance Department including undertaking annual staff reviews, regular one-to-one meetings

The Person

You will come from a building trade's background and hold a qualification in Building Technology at HNC or above. You will pride yourself on exceptional stakeholder management and will have demonstrable experience of successfully managing directly employed teams, contractors and consultants.

Essential requirements of the role include:

  • Dealing with listed buildings
  • Planned, cyclical and reactive maintenance processes
  • Ability to manage budgets effectively
  • Building pathology
  • Planning Regulations
  • Prior experience of schedules of dilapidations
  • Undertaking of measured surveys
  • Customer focussed, commercial awareness
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Full Driving license
