Our client launched in the early noughties and is a pioneer within the sector, they coined the idea of providing more flexible work spaces for businesses of various sizes to suit a fast-changing world and workforce.

Our client has circa 40 buildings, mainly in London but also nationwide, accommodating firms within the tech, food, creative and property sectors among many other professions. The buildings are suitable for start-ups and established firms and have enable firms to grow and change with ease due to the adaptability of their properties.

Our client wishes to add a competent and creative Intermediate Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager to add to the commercial team who will report to the lead commercial manager.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to move from a consultancy, developer or contractor to a client side organisation with a focus on one of the newest and most buoyant markets within construction and property markets in recent years.

Purpose of Role/Job Overview

An exciting opportunity for a cost / commercial manager to assist and support the ever growing property team to provide commercial and QS support ranging from acquisitions to final project delivery.

The Commercial Manager will work directly with the Senior Commercial Manager and be responsible for reviewing, monitoring and helping to manage the budgets and costs across several projects. The Commercial Manager, although reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, will be expected to work independently, be pro-active and take initiative and offer assistance to the team. The role will also involve working with the Acquisitions Team, assisting in development of internal appraisals, reviewing external consultants' cost estimates, to ensure the best outcome during the acquisition phase.

Key Accountabilities

  • Review historic cost data to prepare benchmarking data to support future acquisitions and project budgets.
  • Preparation of elemental benchmark data sheets.
  • Preparation of key data sheets based on project cost data.
  • Leasehold Landlord and Tenant scope/cost split review to value contributions

Personal Profile

- Property / Construction / Quantity surveying related degree

- Understanding of current market rates

- An understanding of different construction methods

- Ability to identify / propose more cost- efficient alternative.

- Market knowledge outside UK

Skills/Abilities/Competencies

- Good understanding of measurement principles and their application.

- Good written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to manage and prioritise duties.

- Attention to detail.

- Previous experience in Microsoft packages such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook as well as the ability to learn new software

- Proactive approach

Experience

3-5 years' experience in a QS / Cost / Commercial Management role

Commercial office sector experience desirable

You need not be MRICS but this is desirable
