The Council has a wide range of Corporate Assets which are key to the delivery of the Council’s services and also the delivery of our wider ambitions to promote economic prosperity, housing development and community well-being.

Our Property Services team has recently been restructured and an exciting new opportunity has arisen to lead this busy team and take on a high profile role developing the service through an innovative and commercial approach and taking the lead in developing and maintaining a new Asset Management Strategy.  The Council is keen to develop new ways of working to maximise the efficiency and performance of our land and property assets to enable the effective delivery of our front line services.

As such we are looking for a highly motivated, resilient Corporate Asset Manager  who has worked at management / supervisory level in an assets / buildings management role within Local Government or a similar complex organisation.   Candidates with a mix of senior experience across public and/or private sectors would be viewed positively.  Knowledge of land and property valuations, sales and acquisitions would be desirable.

You will have a professional knowledge base of asset management along with experience of contract management, procurement, managing budgets, health and safety in construction, managing compliance within buildings and general property maintenance including detailed understanding of relevant legislation in these areas.

You will be capable of effective communication with people at all levels both internally within the organisation and externally.  You will possess exceptional negotiation skills and have the ability to influence and persuade when necessary.  You will have IT skills sufficient to use Microsoft Office packages in your day to day work.  You  will also be able to organise workloads effectively and have  developed networking and partnership working skills which deliver agreed outcomes whilst working in a highly pressurised environment.

You will need to be educated to a minimum of Degree level or equivalent level qualification in a relevant subject and be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of Assets/ estates management.  You will need to be self motivated and capable of overseeing a small team of surveyors in addition to managing your own workload.

You must have Chartered Membership of a technical body such as the RICS (MRICS) or CIOB or be working towards such professional status.
