Job Details

You will work with the Business Development Director to establish a pro-active strategy to identify and secure a long-term development pipeline. You will maintain and develop high quality relationships with external property contacts, local agents, landowners to ensure that you are able to locate and secure off-market land in specified and targeted areas of the UK.

Key Responsibilities
The post holder shall:

  • Use demographic analysis to identify and support target locations
  • Source open-countryside sites using a structured approach (as per set site criteria)
  • Negotiate, structure and secure freehold and leasehold options on identified sites (subject to planning)
  • Support the Business Development Director in planning application preparation
  • Support the Business Development Director in planning appeals and judicial reviews (when required)
  • Assist with political lobbying (local government)
  • Support and assist in Pre-application discussions
  • Public consultation preparation and execution


Candidate Profile

  • A strong understanding of land acquisition and planning process including appeals and judicial reviews
  • Key contacts in the development industry
  • Passionate about land acquisition for development
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Financial awareness
  • Ability to plan strategically and identify new areas of development
  • The ability to manage large projects, with a project management qualification ideal
  • Strong communication and IT skills
  • The ability to multi-task across multiple development projects
  • Highly driven to work and succeed in a competitive industry
  • The ability to work well under pressure
  • Initiative to plan and deliver work to a high standard in a busy environment


Experience Requirements

You will have a proven track record of securing strategic sites nationally, sound technical knowledge and an understanding of the UK planning system, with at least five years' experience gained in a similar role.

Understanding and experience of development and land acquisition on open-countryside, green belt and brownfield sites is essential - preferably outside of London.

Experience in political lobbying / public consultation would also be an advantage.

Candidates who have experience within the Care home / senior living / Doctor surgery development sectors are very appealing, as both carry a similar profile to the crematoria £3-5m development process


Education Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level, with a degree in land management or similar desirable
  • Project management qualification
  • Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors
