We’re looking for an experienced Built Environment researcher, practiced in the delivery of related modules and with a keen interest in using technology to enhance learning!

University College of Estate Management (UCEM) is the leading provider of supported online education for the Built Environment. Currently celebrating our 100th year as an institution, we have a wealth of history and experience in providing the highest quality learning opportunities. At any one time, we have over 3,500 students from more than 100 countries benefiting from our qualifications.  UCEM helps to enhance Built Environment professional careers through our accredited property-related and construction programmes, offered at Postgraduate, Undergraduate and Apprenticeship levels. Our centenary year has inspired our new vision to be the Centre of Excellence for Built Environment Education, appropriately abbreviated ‘CX’ to help us look to the future and lead our strategy for the next 10 years. This is all to achieve our core purpose of providing accessible, relevant and cost-effective online education, producing leading talent for a better Built Environment.

Playing a leading role in the approaches to research undertaken by students in their studies at UCEM, you will be directly involved in the delivery of the project modules where you are required to manage and co-ordinate project supervisors and coordinators. This may involve the allocation of specialist project supervisors to support appropriate student research projects. You will manage the marking arrangements and be expected to monitor and maintain adequate staffing of all subject areas within your remit, reviewing the effectiveness of the supervision and project coordination arrangements in order to strive for continuous improvement.

Within this role you will also be involved in the wider delivery of modules across the School of the Built Environment, actively contributing and committed to ensuring we enable our students to succeed and achieve our vision to be the centre of excellence.

Key qualities we’re looking for include:

  • Postgraduate degree in relevant Built Environment related subject
  • Relevant Professional qualification(s) or working towards
  • Previous experience in conducting research
  • Experience in research-based teaching
  • Impeccable communication skills
  • Ability and passion in using technology to enhance learning
  • Energetic and collaborative disposition

A doctoral research degree in a relevant subject, a HEA fellowship and industry experience is desired but not essential.

At UCEM we expect all our employees to demonstrate our values: Passion, Integrity, Excellence and Support.
