Building Surveyor / Consultant

MBM is seeking a Building Surveyor with minimum three years PQE and / recently chartered (MRICS) pursuing a consultancy position within Sydney, NSW. The role is responsible for maintaining and developing the Building Consultancy service line within MBM together with undertaking core building consultancy duties including technical due diligence, condition reporting, lifecycle analysis and make good assessments (dilapidations) as well as supporting other business lines within the company, namely Asset Advisory, Quantity Surveying, Tax Depreciation and BCA (Code Compliance) Consultancy. Sponsorship for the right candidate will be available through MBM.

What Can You Expect?

Varied workload out with, but also including, the typical core building consultancy services provided by other similar established national firms.

Core Building Surveying including:

• Make Good Assessments and negotiations, both Tenant and Landlord (office and industrial);
• Transition Services incorporating new build developments through to handover (industrial);
• Life Cycle Analysis and forecasting (commercial assets);
• Capital Works Funds (aged care assets);
• Ingoing Schedules of Condition (office and industrial);
• Technical Due Diligence at acquisition and disposal (commercial assets);
• Portfolio Stock Condition Surveys (Council and University assets);
• Superintendent role of upgrade and refurbishment works (office and industrial including new build).

Due to MBM’s various business lines, all property sectors fall within our remit including the following:

• Asset Advisory Business Line: Working with the advisory team on some of the largest prison / correctional facilities and health developments in the country together with various other government organisations, University portfolios and student housing;
• Quantity Surveying Business Line: Working with the QS team to provide feasibility studies, defects inspection and expert witness reports;
• Tax Depreciation Business Line: Working with the tax team to undertake condition assessments of assets in conjunction with asset registers and depreciation schedules.
• BCA Consultancy: Assisting the BCA Consultancy with compliance auditing of varying facilities.

Associated Duties:

• Development of new and maintenance of existing clients including in-house relationships;
• NSW, interstate, national and international travel where required.
