NHBC has an exciting opportunity for a Construction Technician (Architectural, MMC)  to join our team working from our head office in Milton Keynes. You will work on a full time, permanent basis and earn a highly competitive negotiable salary, depending on experience.

This role will require a presence in Milton Keynes but we will be open to candidates based from home that can accommodate the visits into headquarters, when necessary.

About the Construction Technician (Architectural, MMC) role

The purpose of the job is to review submitted information on MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) to help determine if the MMC systems would be acceptable for use in homes covered by NHBC’s Buildmark warranty. The job holder will review drawings, specifications and other technical information submitted to NHBC and coordinate the review, where required, with structural engineers, fire engineers and building control surveyors.

The job holder is to liaise with manufacturers, builders, design consultants and developers to understand the system and advise what further information is required. Having carried out the initial review, the job holder will communicate key details of the systems to colleagues around the business to help NHBC carry out technical risk management and effective inspections of homes built with MMC systems.

The job holder will retain an overview of MMC systems to track design changes as well as feedback from site or manufacture such that the implication of any changes are understood and effectively managed. The job holder will become the specialist in NHBC for particular MMC systems and will provide support to colleagues around the business in the effective risk management of homes built using the system.

The core involvement of the role will be to review drawings and technical information and assess the information against published standards, assessments by technical approvals bodies and good construction practice.

About our ideal Construction Technician (Architectural, MMC):

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you will offer experience of working in house building or production of construction specifications and design details.

You will already offer an understanding of construction technology and will be educated to degree level or a relevant technical qualification. Good organisational skills and an ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks is essential.

A typical background for a Construction Technician could be any of the following capacities: Architectural Technician, Building Surveyor or a similar discipline within the construction industry.
