We are looking for an experienced commissioning and procurement individual who can demonstrate depth of knowledge and achievements in the construction sector with a strong commercial focus.

About the role 
This role reports directly to the Corporate Head of Service for Commissioning and is responsible for providing a professional and customer-focused service through the successful delivery of commissioning and commercial projects. Post holders will develop and implement innovative approaches to supply arrangements that minimise costs and commercial risk, and deliver cashable savings, whilst at the same time enhancing the services the council provides through added social value. 

This will be a fixed term contract for two years with possible extension for a third year dependant upon build programme and funding. 

About you 
We are looking for a candidate with experience and a proven track record of achievement in commissioning and procurement focused services with strong leadership skills, modelling a performance culture and constructively building achievement, confidence and skills in others. Our candidate is someone who can work successfully with key stakeholders including members, residents, businesses, communities, partner organisations and other public services. They will have an excellent knowledge of the end to end commissioning cycle with proven commercial skills and evidence of delivering significant efficiencies in a Public Sector organisation. 

The ideal candidate will have a degree or relevant professional qualification, preferably Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), be politically astute and able to build high levels of credibility, and make an impact quickly.
