Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Building Technology

Cirencester

£33,198-£48,678 DOE

The Royal Agricultural University (RAU) is proud of its long standing reputation for preparing graduates for successful careers in the land-based industries. Many of our extensive alumni network have established and led businesses which have shaped the global landscape of agri-food, land and real estate management.

The School of Real Estate and Land Management provides a focal point for commercial and rural property management teaching across the University and staff teach prospective professionals on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The School is also actively engaged with the surveying profession, including running the RICS/RAU Land Price Series.

We are seeking to recruit an ambitious and innovative Lecturer/Senior Lecturer with the specialist knowledge to teach building technology as applied to the real estate and rural land management sectors, focusing on building technology and defects, building management, environment & sustainability, building and site surveys and mapping, costing and costing information systems, vernacular and contemporary building design and GIS/digital mapping techniques and packages.  This expertise will have ideally been acquired through academic practice and experience in the industry.

You will teach across our undergraduate and postgraduate courses to further strengthen the team. You will possess an excellent understanding of the subject area and a proven ability to communicate this knowledge to others.  You will contribute to the management, administration and coordination of parts of the teaching programme and its development.  The University encourages engagement in scholarly activity in your subject area, especially through pedagogy or discipline based development. As a member of Academic Board you will have an opportunity to help deliver the University’s new strategic plan and develop a revised curriculum that focuses on the student experience, employability and pedagogic best practice.

You will have a degree in Building Technology, Building Surveying or a related subject area, and ideally also a postgraduate qualification or evidence that you are prepared to continue your own education through research and continued professional development.

While we would like to appoint an experienced academic, we will consider applications from those at the start of their academic career. Applications will be considered from those interested in working on a full time, part time or flexible basis.

The University offers a comprehensive range of benefits including membership of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme, 30 days annual leave and free parking.
