Works & Estates Bursar

Competitive salary plus accommodation on-site

Required from, or before, 1 September 2019

A school like no other, Wellington College is one of the world’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools and has an enviable reputation for excellence and innovation. We’re currently looking for a Works & Estates Bursar to take responsibility for the management of our 400 acre estate that includes a number of listed buildings.

Your primary responsibility will be to organise the maintenance and upkeep of all estates and building assets on and off the College, including the infrastructure roads and services. We will also rely on you to manage all elements of capital investment, from planning to delivery.

Advising and assisting the Master and Bursar in the strategic development of the College estate through capital projects and refurbishment will also be an important aspect of the role. And, when it comes to appointing contractors and consultants or maintaining the estates asset inventory system, we will count on you. Producing and supervising annual programmes of work, providing effective facilities management, chairing committees and liaising with outside agencies to ensure the job gets done – all are aspects of this vital high profile role.

To succeed, you will need to be a great leader and project manager with proven experience and a good understanding of building construction, facilities management and maintenance practice and legislation. We will also be looking for someone with a real interest in, and knowledge of, historic buildings and landscapes. A clear and logical thinker, you will be adept at analysing and evaluating technical problems and finding the right solution with a practical and pragmatic approach. What’s more, you will be a hands-on team player who knows how to build good working relationships and influence others at all levels.

The post comes with a generous salary and benefits package and on-site accommodation. So, if you are committed to boarding school life and are keen to continue to develop professionally, apply today.

Closing date: 6pm, Sunday 12 May 2019

Interviews will take place: Monday 20 May 2019
